Saving the environment has become an important initiative today. More and more social organizations and governmental bodies are taking measures for saving the environment. If you can rent or borrow items, do it instead of buying new ones. These items could be anything like party decoration materials.
If it is possible, opt for the used items rather than new items. Remember that if there will be less demand of new products, it will lead to less energy consumption for production. Natural resources will not be used for the manufacturing of new items.

It is advisable that you opt for items with less plastic package. If less plastic packaging will be used in the products, automatically less of plastic will be produced. Ways in which you can avoid plastic packaging:
buy fresh fruits and vegetables, do not opt for the canned foods
do not buy stationery items that are wrapped in plastic
do not ask for a plastic bag in the grocery store, take your own carry bag/container
In case you do not need any household item, do not throw them. You can give it to your friends or any of your relatives who needs it. Possible used items you can donate are:

Be careful about the excess use of the electricity. Make sure that you always turn off the lights and fan when you leave your house. Similarly, switch off the electrical equipment when you are not using it.
Note: often we leave the computer or the TV in a standby board. Do not do this. Electrical equipments even in the standby mode consume electricity. They will consume power as long as they are plugged in the electrical outlet.
If it is possible for you, send the scrap metal from your house to a nearby scrap metal recycling centre. Remember that scrap metal recycling is highly beneficial for the environment. It prevents the excessive consumption of metals that depletes the natural resources.
Try to use the ceramic cups for drinking coffee. Do not go for the disposable cups. Similarly, you can avoid using the plastic water bottles. Remember that plastic leads to clogged landfill. Thus, try to use aluminium bottles for carrying and drinking water.
It is preferable that you opt for the cloth napkins. These napkins are far better than the disposable paper napkins. Remember that paper napkins account to a large paper trash every year. Thus, cloth napkins are better.
